JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the daily preparation of food items in the culinary department. Assists the on duty supervisor to ensure proper food preparation and quality throughout all food outlets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares food items as directed by the Chef. Assists the Chef and Kitchen Staff in everyday food preparations.
• Maintains a clean and safe workstation according to the standards set by the Casino, including walk in coolers and storage areas.
• Responsible for the good safety and health practices throughout the culinary department, including emergency and security procedures.
• Remains current on all Casino policies and procedures.
• Maintains proper and professional relationship with all Casino Staff.
• Provides constructive input to foster process improvement within the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job requires no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must have the ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. This includes the ability to write communicative correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

MATH SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Visually analyze various capacities of proportions, distances, and frequencies.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

No computer skills are necessary for this position.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

The following trainings will be offered post-employment and are required within the training schedule timeframe: Title 31, ServSafe, sexual harassment prevention, ladder safety, PPE, safety orientation for food service, safety orientation, electrical safety, back safety, bloodborne pathogens, hazard communication and office ergonomics.
