JOB SUMMARY:

Maintains and repairs physical structures of buildings and maintains grounds by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

include the following. Duties may be added to, changed or deleted at the sole discretion of management:

• Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor.
• Performs grounds keeping duties such as: operating riding mower, hauling, tree removal, etc. on tribally owned property.
• Paints interior and exterior walls and trim.
• Tows and operates heavy equipment.
• Repairs parking lot and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete.
• Maintains and repairs buildings' plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses.
• Repairs or replaces building brick, stone, and concrete.
• Constructs, maintains and repairs wood parts of buildings.
• Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines and equipment such as truck and riding mower.
• Assists other departments with moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
• Knowledge of locksmithing and basic construction principles.
• Assists with Tribal and Community events as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job requires no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must have the ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. This includes the ability to write communicative correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

MATH SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Visually analyze various capacities of proportions, distances, and frequencies.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

No computer skills are necessary for this position.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

Must qualify for and maintain an Elk Valley Rancheria Gaming license and currently have a valid drivers license.

The following trainings will be offered post-employment and are required within the training schedule timeframe: blood borne pathogens, sexual harassment prevention, aerial and scissor lift, hand and power tool, ladder safety, PPE, driving safety, safety orientation, lock/out tag out of hazardous energy, electrical safety, back safety, forklift operator safety training for construction, hazard communication, cyber security and office ergonomics.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals; and exposure to airborne particles. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
