JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the EVREDCO Fuel Venture General Manager, the Cashier/Attendant will be the forefront of Customer Service. Greeting customers as they first walk in and ensuring they find everything they need and will be responsible for all transactions at the cash register in addition to working inside the store and outside at the fuel pumps. Reporting any issues with the fuel pumps to the management, stocking shelves and rotating product and maintaining an overall clean and professional appearance of the Fuel Mart.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service.
• Registers sales on a cash register by scanning items, itemizing and totaling customers’ purchases.
• Bags purchases if needed.
• Processes return transactions.
• Enters price changes by referring to price sheets and special sale bulletins.
• Collects payments by accepting cash, check, or charge payments from customers and makes change for cash customers.
• Verifies Government issued identification for Tobacco/Alcohol and credit card transactions.
• Balances cash drawer by counting cash at beginning and end of work shift.
• Provides pricing information by answering questions.
• Maintains checkout operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Cleans gas spills using neutralizing agent and/or absorbing cloth; disposes of material properly.
• Notifies management regarding defective equipment.
• Cleans Fuel Mart, including dispensers, data hut, spill buckets, islands, pavement and trash as needed.
• Loads pump receipt tape.
• Performs daily inspection of all equipment.
• Performs weekly gasoline samples/paste tests and measures nozzle flow timing weekly.
• Monitors fuel deliveries.
• Enforces national fire codes and other governing agencies and Elk Valley’s safety policies (e.g., no smoking, ignition turned off, filling storage containers). Responds to alarms appropriately. Uses a fire extinguisher if necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job requires no supervisor responsibilities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as procurement, governmental and internal policies and procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, or employees of the organization.

MATH SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, tips, and return on cash transactions.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook e-mail, internet, faxing, printing, copying, POS programs, and signage changes & interaction with the Casino customer service/rewards program.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

Must have a current valid driver's license and receive UST Certification if hired.

The following trainings will be offered post-employment and are required within the training schedule timeframe: Sexual harassment prevention, ergonomics, safety orientation, workplace violence, back safety, fire safety, personal protective equipment, ladder safety, ServSafe, hazard communication, bloodborne pathogen, and CA LEAD training.

Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
